Carnivorous plant Nepenthes 'Rebecca Soper'
Nepenthes 'Rebecca Soper' is a popular carnivorous plant hybrid, originating from the crossing of two different species of Nepenthes plants - Nepenthes ventricosa and Nepenthes spathulata. Nepenthes plants are part of the Nepenthaceae family.
Nepenthes 'Rebecca Soper' is appreciated for its beauty and variety of colors, the insect traps are usually pink or red, with a green undertone. The traps grow on long and thin stems, and their shape is like urns or cups with a lid on top, ready to catch the unfortunate insects.
This plant grows well in indirect or partial light, preferring warm temperatures and high humidity. The soil must be well drained, acidic and rich in organic matter.
Being a carnivorous plant, Nepenthes 'Rebecca Soper' feeds on insects it catches in its traps. The insects are attracted by the sweet nectar produced by the plant, then they slide into the trap where they are digested by the enzymes produced by the plant.
Nepenthes grows very well in Sphagnum Peat with compost, fertilizers and specific microelements - substrate that you can find here: Nepenthes substrate.
