Pieris 'Forest Flame' - spectacular, evergreen foliage
Pieris 'Forest Flame' is an evergreen ornamental shrub known for its spectacular foliage and attractive flowers. It is especially prized for its new leaf growth, which appears in dizzying shades of bright red, gradually changing to pink, then cream and finally light green as the leaves mature. This show of colors generates an appearance as if it were in flames, hence the name 'Forest Flame'.
The mature leaves are dark green, glossy and lanceolate in shape, adding a nice contrast to the new growth. In early spring, Pieris 'Forest Flame' produces clusters of delicate white, bell-like flowers that hang elegantly from the branches. The flowers are fragrant and attract pollinators, adding aesthetic and ecological value to the garden.
The shrub is medium-sized, reaching heights of up to 1.5-2.5 meters and prefers shaded or partially shaded places, with well-drained and acidic soil ( with an ideal pH between 4.5 and 6.0) . It is ideal for use in woodland gardens, borders or as a solitary plant for accent in landscapes.
Pieris 'Forest Flame' is resistant to most pests and diseases, making the plant easy to maintain and a popular choice for gardeners.
