Horticultural Perlite 0-5 mm

Perlite is a granular inorganic material frequently used in soil mixes to improve aeration and soil structure. It helps maintain a light, well-drained, and crumbly substrate, preventing compaction and water stagnation around the roots.

It is also highly effective for rooting cuttings, promoting the development of a stronger and healthier root system compared to rooting solely in water. Due to its porous structure, perlite simultaneously provides moisture, air, and stability—ideal conditions for root initiation.

Recommended method for cuttings:

Cuttings can be placed in a bag with moistened perlite, about one-third full. Insert the ends of the cuttings up to the node into the perlite, then fill the bag with air and seal it. Place the bag in a bright spot with indirect light. Roots can be checked after 2–3 weeks, and planting is recommended when they reach about 1.5–2.5 cm in length.

Perlite can absorb about 35–40% water, which it stores in its highly porous granular structure, releasing it gradually according to the plant’s needs. At the same time, it allows a constant flow of air to the roots.

From a technical standpoint, perlite is a material that is:

• inorganic, 100% natural

• chemically neutral

• very stable and non-degradable over time

• heat insulating

• effective over an extremely wide temperature range, from -200°C to +850°C

It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor plants and is successfully used in mixes for tropical plants, succulents, cacti, seedlings, and cuttings.
