Peperomia prostrata (String of Turtle)
Peperomia prostrata, also known as String of Turtles, is a decorative succulent appreciated for its small, round leaves featuring a pattern resembling a turtle shell. This easy-care houseplant is ideal for hanging pots or terrariums.
Main characteristics

• Origin: Tropical forests of South America, especially Brazil
• Appearance: Trailing plant with thin, flexible stems that can reach 30–50 cm in length
• Leaves: Small and round, approximately 1 cm in diameter, with a dark green pattern and lighter-colored veins resembling a turtle shell
• Flowers: Small and inconspicuous, cream-white in color, appearing as slender spikes
Care requirements
✔ Light: Prefers moderate to bright indirect light. It can also adapt to partial shade, but growth will be slower. Avoid exposure to strong direct sunlight.
✔ Water: Water moderately, allowing the top layer of soil to dry out between waterings. It is sensitive to excess water, which can lead to root rot.
✔ Humidity: Tolerates moderate humidity but prefers a slightly humid environment. Occasional misting may be beneficial.
✔ Temperature: Ideally between 18–25°C. Does not tolerate temperatures below 10°C.
✔ Soil: A well-draining mix, such as succulent soil or a mixture of peat, perlite, and bark.
✔ Fertilizer: Fertilize once a month during the growing season (spring–summer) with diluted liquid fertilizer for green plants.
