Opuntia spinosior - frost-resistant cactus with spectacular flowers

Opuntia spinosior is an ornamental outdoor cactus, valued for its branched habit, cylindrical segments covered with decorative white spines, and very good resistance to drought and low temperatures. In late spring and summer, it produces large, satin-like flowers in shades from intense pink to magenta, sometimes followed by decorative reddish fruits.

Native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, this species is one of the most resilient Opuntia cultivated in gardens, ideal for rock gardens, xerophytic gardens, sunny borders, or pot cultivation.
