Hoya lacunosa 'Moonshine' is a particularly attractive variegated variety of Hoya lacunosa, valued for its small, thick leaves with a silvery-bright effect (silver-white variegation) that gives it an elegant, moonlit appearance.

The plant has a trailing growth habit, with thin, flexible vines, making it ideal for hanging baskets, supports, or planters. The leaves are small, ovate, dark green with silvery-white patches or spots that become more pronounced in good light.

The flowers are small, creamy white, star-shaped, appearing in dense umbels and have a sweet and pleasant fragrance, often with hints of cinnamon or honey, stronger in the evening.

Main features:

  • Small leaves with decorative silver variegation
  • Compact, trailing growth
  • Fragrant flowers (sweet, especially at night)
  • Bright and elegant appearance
  • Size: vines 40–100 cm or more (under good conditions)

Easy care:

  • Light: bright indirect light or filtered sun (variegation is more beautiful and stable in good light)
  • Temperature: warm to moderate (18–28°C)
  • Watering: allow the substrate to partially dry out between waterings (succulent leaves make it drought tolerant)
  • Humidity: medium to high
  • Substrate: airy, well-drained

Recommended substrate: For optimal growth and to keep roots healthy, an airy and well-drained substrate specially designed for Hoya is recommended. → Professional substrate for Anthurium, Hoya, Bromeliaceae, and ferns - Secret Garden

Note: As with most variegated Hoyas, the silver variegation is more intense and stable in good light. In insufficient light, new leaves may appear greener.

Fragrant flowers: YES
