Hoya krohniana 'Eskimo' - XL specimens

Hoya krohniana 'Eskimo' is a cultivar of the species Hoya krohniana, sold here as XL specimens, with long vines and a pot that is already filled out. 'Eskimo' is a label for the small, often heart-shaped foliage covered in extensive silver splash; it is not variegation and is not a separate taxon. The silver coverage varies from one vine to another, even in the same pot. The flowers are small, creamy white, fluffy, and fragrant. Flowering depends on the plant's maturity and growing conditions.

Foliage and splash. The leaves are small, firm, glossy, and have slightly raised veins. New growth is often heart-shaped; as the plant matures, some leaves become rounder or oval. The silvery effect is splash. Density can range from discreet speckles to almost complete coverage. The remaining green tissue may develop burgundy, almost blackish tones in bright but filtered light.

Flowers and fragrance. The flowers are star-shaped, pubescent, creamy white, and similar in appearance to those of Hoya lacunosa. The fragrance is sweet and may be easier to detect in the evening. The flowers last for several days. Flowering depends on the plant's maturity and growing conditions.

Botanical and commercial identity. Hoya krohniana Kloppenb. & Siar is an accepted species, published in 2009 and native to the Philippines. Before its publication, it was sold as Hoya lacunosa 'Heart Leaf'. It has no native range.

The vines are fragile and may be damaged during transport. Vine length varies from one specimen to another and depending on the season. The same pot may contain vines with dense splash and vines that are almost entirely green.
