Hoya campanulata Yellow

Hoya campanulata Yellow is a selection of the species Hoya campanulata, recognized for its bell-shaped flowers in creamy-yellow shades. The foliage is relatively thin, dark green, and elliptical, with prominent veins and sometimes subtle spots. Unlike many climbing hoyas, this plant has an epiphytic shrub-like growth habit. The flowers are 2–3 cm across and, on mature plants, appear in clusters of 10–15. The fragrance is subtle, with citrus notes.

Foliage and growth. The plant grows as an epiphytic shrub, with thin stems and dark green, elliptical leaves, usually measuring 9–12 × 4–5 cm at maturity.

Flowers and fragrance. The flowers are bell-shaped, measuring 2–3 cm across. In the Yellow selection, the corolla is creamy yellow. The corona usually remains white, with a red spot in the center. The shape varies: sometimes the cup remains more closed, while at other times the edges flatten out. On mature plants, they appear in clusters of 10–15 per peduncle. The fragrance is subtle and reminiscent of citrus; its intensity may vary throughout flowering.

Botanical identity and origin. The accepted name is Hoya campanulata Blume, published in 1826. Its native range is Western Malesia: Sumatra, Java, the Malay Peninsula, and Borneo. Yellow remains a color selection from the campanulata complex.
