Tephrocactus strobiliformis (Tannenzapfenkaktus)
Tephrocactus strobiliformis is a species of cactus from the genus Tephrocactus, native to Argentina. This cactus is part of the Cactaceae family and the Opuntioideae subfamily.
Tephrocactus strobiliformis ( Pine Cone Cactus) is a compact cactus that produces branched segments similar to the shape of a pine cone.
Also known as "pinecone cactus" or "pine cone cactus", T. strobiliformis has an unusual appearance, with a shape reminiscent of a pine cone. It grows in cylindrical or conical segments, light green or blue-green. Each segment has small protrusions (called tubercles), from which spines appear in the form of a plate, giving the characteristic "pine cone" appearance.
This cactus is a small variety, growing up to a height of about 15 cm. Its flowers are usually white or pale pink.
T. strobiliformis is adapted to arid conditions, requiring direct and intense sunlight, as well as well-drained soil to prevent root rot. Like other cacti, it needs limited irrigation, because it can retain water in its juicy tissues.
