Prescottia maculata is a very special terrestrial orchid, having dark green leaves with a tinge leading to black. It has white/cream dots that become more obvious as the plant matures.
The leaves of this orchid can be compared to a sky covered with stars.
The leaves of jewel orchids are segmented, with prominent venation and show various patterns, usually with golden or silver reflections - hence the popular name jewel orchid.
