Mandevilla Diamantina Opal Citrine ('Lancalifornia') - fragrant flowers
Mandevilla Diamantina Opale Citrine (also known as the cultivar ‘Lancalifornia’) is a decorative variety of Mandevilla, belonging to the Apocynaceae family. It is an ornamental hybrid selected for its abundant flowers and intense coloration, part of the commercial range Diamantina®, developed for long-lasting blooming and vigorous growth.
Growing conditions:
• Light: requires direct sunlight or at least half a day of intense light. Flowering is at its peak in full sun.
• Temperature: heat-loving; grows best between 18–30°C. Does not tolerate temperatures below 10°C. In areas with cold winters, it is grown as a potted plant and moved indoors during the cold season.
• Soil: well-drained, rich in organic matter, slightly acidic to neutral. Mixtures based on peat and perlite or mature compost are recommended.
• Watering: regular, more frequent in the warm season, but care should be taken to avoid waterlogging. Allow the top layer of the substrate to dry slightly between waterings.
• Fertilizing: it is recommended to apply a fertilizer for flowering plants every 1–2 weeks throughout the blooming season.
Height including pot: approx. 40-50 cm
Other information:
• For continuous blooming, it is recommended to remove wilted flowers and lightly prune after each flowering wave.
• The ‘Lancalifornia’ cultivar is known for its increased disease resistance and extended flowering ability compared to other classic Mandevilla varieties.
Note: This variety is heat-sensitive – it may arrive without flowers and could lose leaves after purchase or during transport. The plant stabilizes over time and resumes growth.
