Full description and specifications

Mammillaria gracilis cv. Arizona Snowcap is an attractive variety of cactus from the genus Mammillaria, known for its compact appearance and spectacular growth. It is a popular succulent plant among cactus collectors due to its unique shape and relatively easy care.

Mammillaria gracilis cv. Arizona Snowcap forms small dense bushes, composed of cylindrical stems covered with white, dense and fluffy spines. This white covering gives the plant a "snowy" appearance, hence the name "Snowcap".

The stems are cylindrical, dark green, completely covered with white and silky thorns. Individual stems can grow up to 5-10 cm in height and approximately 2 cm in diameter.

The flowers are small, bell-shaped, cream-white or pale yellow, and appear in the crown around the top of the stems. Flowering usually occurs in spring and summer.

After flowering, the plant can produce small red fruits, which are decorative and contain seeds.

Care Requirements:

  • Light: It prefers strong and direct light (at least 6 hours/day), so a window facing south or west is ideal.
  • Watering: Like other cacti, it needs moderate watering, letting the soil dry completely between waterings. In winter, when the plant is at rest, it requires even less water.
  • Temperature: It tolerates heat well, but it is not resistant to frost, so it must be kept at temperatures above 10 degrees Celsius.
  • Soil: It needs a well-drained soil, ideally a mixture for cacti and succulents, which prevents water retention and the risk of root rot.
  • Fertilization: Can benefit from a diluted cactus fertilizer during the growing season.

Height with pots included approx. 8 cm
