Hoya burmanica is an epiphytic species with an atypical, almost bushy growth habit and narrow, triangular or ovate-lanceolate, green, slightly glossy foliage. It is native from southern Assam to northern Indochina: Assam, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. The name comes from Burma, now Myanmar, where it was first described. The flowers are small and yellow, with a sometimes-purple corona base, and are described as having a subtle lemon fragrance. Flowering depends on the plant’s maturity and growing conditions.

Foliage and growth habit. The shoots are thin and sparsely branched, more shrub-like than those of a vigorous vine. The leaves are pointed, slightly concave, and glabrous. In cultivation, the plant can be allowed to trail after the main shoot elongates. Peduncles emerge from the leaf axils and are sometimes visible beneath the leaf blade.

Flowers and fragrance. The flowers are star-shaped and yellow, sometimes tending toward green or, in some clones, pale pink. The corona base may have a purple tinge. They are described as having a subtle lemon fragrance; perceived intensity varies and is not guaranteed. Flowering depends on the plant’s maturity and growing conditions.

Identity. The accepted botanical name is Hoya burmanica Rolfe. It is not a variegated form and is not part of the horticultural complex of Hoya polyneura. It is a separate species with thinner foliage and cup-shaped flowers, not a cultivar selection.

The decorative pot is not included in the price.

Substrate: use an airy, well-draining mix suitable for epiphytic species. We recommend the professional substrate for Hoya and Anthurium - SG Mix.
