Gymnocalycium horstii (Spinnenkaktus) D5
Gymnocalycium horstii is a cactus species native to Paraguay. It is a succulent, globular plant with a diameter of approximately 5-7 cm. It has a matte green color, and on its surface there are prominent tubers, from which long and strong thorns grow. The flowers, which appear at the top, are usually white or pale pink, with a slight pink tint in the middle.
This plant is a popular choice for cactus collectors, due to its compact and beautiful shape, as well as its attractive flowers.
It grows well in well-lit spaces and requires moderate watering. It is important to mention that, like other cacti, Gymnocalycium horstii prefers a well-drained soil to avoid root rot. Also, the plant needs a period of rest during the winter, the period in which watering must be reduced.
