Fockea Edulis (Caudex)
€8,95
Fockea Edulis - a caudex-forming succulent native to South Africa and Namibia. The plant develops an impressive caudex, from which thin branches emerge that grow like a climbing vine and can climb on any support.
The caudex can reach a size of 60 cm, while the vines can grow up to 4 meters long.
The flowers are white-greenish and can be up to 1.5 cm in size. Flowering generally occurs in the warm season.
The root/caudex is edible, having a slightly sweet taste. Some sources claim that the latex from the caudex has a degree of toxicity.
The plant requires minimal care, and watering should be done very rarely, only when the caudex shows signs of dehydration. A substrate with good drainage is necessary. It tolerates occasional temperatures down to -2 °C. Growth slows down from January to April, but the plant does not enter complete dormancy and part of the foliage remains green year-round.
