Epidendrum radicans ‘Apricot Glow’ is a selection of Epidendrum radicans, appreciated for its vigorous stems and abundant inflorescences. It is an orchid suited to a very bright space, balcony, or sheltered terrace during the summer.

About this plant

Epidendrum radicans is an orchid native to Central and South America, valued for its small flowers, grouped in abundant inflorescences and brightly colored in shades of orange, red, or yellow. It is also known as a “garden orchid” in warm-climate areas and is one of the easiest Epidendrum species to grow.

Care at a glance:

  • 🌞 Light: prefers bright light, including several hours of direct sun per day; insufficient light reduces flowering.
  • 🌡️ Temperature: grows well at moderate temperatures, with an optimal range of 18–28°C; in winter, it requires a minimum of 12–14°C.
  • 💧 Watering: the soil or growing medium should be kept slightly moist but well drained; it does not tolerate standing water.
  • 🌱 Growing medium: an airy mix with bark and perlite, or it can even be planted in the garden in frost-free areas.
  • 🌸 Flowering: flowers abundantly, often several times a year, when provided with strong light and consistent care.

It is a hardy orchid, also suitable for beginners, adding a tropical accent with its vivid, long-lasting flowers.

Height including the pot: 45 cm

This variety reblooms repeatedly on the same flower spike—do not remove spikes with spent flowers.

Quick care guide

  • Light: plenty of light; gentle morning sun or bright filtered light.
  • Watering: water when the surface of the growing medium begins to dry; do not let water stand.
  • Temperature: it can stay outdoors in summer after acclimatization, but protect it from prolonged cold and frost.
  • Growing medium and stems: airy mix with good drainage; do not cut aerial roots or green stems.
  • Fertilizing: during the growing season, apply diluted orchid fertilizer; do not fertilize completely dry growing medium.
