Alpinia galanga (Thailändischer Ingwer, Galgant)
Alpinia galanga is a large plant from the ginger family, grown for its rhizomes which have important medicinal and aromatic properties.
The root (rhizome) of Alpinia galanga has been historically used in Unami medicine, considered an essential part in treating certain diseases and conditions.
At the same time, it is used as a spice and flavoring in both Arabic and Asian cuisine.
Other known names: Thai Ginger, Galangal
Growing tips: In Romania, it can be grown indoors to control its size, or in the garden – but the rhizomes need to be dug up during the cold season or covered with a sufficient layer of soil to protect them from severe frost. Cold tolerance: -7°C
Height including pot: approx. 30 cm
Pot diameter: 12 cm
📌 Note: The leaves may show defects, imperfections, slightly dried tips, tears, or marks. For this plant, the main point of interest is the rhizomes, and the foliage appearance can vary depending on the season and growth stage. These aspects are normal and do not affect the plant’s viability or ability to regenerate.
