Alocasia plumbae 'Fliegender Tintenfisch'
Alocasia plumbae, also called 'Flying Squid' Alocasia, is a unique species. Instead of huge, luxuriant leaves, this variety has leaves that look like tentacles. It is also often confused with a tillandsia, the appearance being quite similar if we ignore the particularities.
Beyond its unique appearance, this variety is not at all pretentious and cares like any other allocasia - or even easier, according to some collecting groups.
This Alocasia prefers a well-drained soil and an environment with high humidity. Like other plants of this genus, it grows best in conditions of strong indirect light, but it can tolerate varying levels of light. However, it does not like strong direct light, which can burn the leaves.
Regarding watering, it is good to let the soil dry a little between waterings, to prevent rotting of the roots. The plant also appreciates a regular supply of balanced fertilizer during the growing season.
Note: Alocasia is a sensitive plant. Therefore, it is possible to receive these plants with some defects on the leaves, but these do not affect the viability of the plant.
