Schlumbergera ‘Jolly Purple’ (Craciunita)

Schlumbergera, also known by the popular names "Christmas Cactus", "Don't Touch Me", or "Holiday Cactus", is an epiphytic succulent plant native to the mountainous regions of Brazil. It is highly valued for its spectacular flowers that usually appear during the winter holiday season. Here are some tips for caring for this plant:
Light: Schlumbergera prefers indirect light and can even tolerate low light conditions. Avoid strong direct light, which can burn the leaves.
Watering: During the growth and flowering period, keep the soil moist but not soaked. Reduce watering after the plant has flowered and during the resting period. It is essential to have well-drained soil to prevent root rot.
Humidity: This plant prefers moderate humidity and can benefit from occasional water misting, especially in dry air conditions.
Temperature: Schlumbergera prefers moderate temperatures, between 15-22 degrees Celsius. To stimulate flowering, you can expose the plant to lower temperatures (but not below 10 degrees Celsius) for a few weeks before the desired flowering period.
Fertilization: You can use a balanced liquid fertilizer, diluted according to the instructions, during the growth period. Suspend fertilization during the resting period.
Repotting: Repotting is best done after the flowering period, but it is usually only necessary when the plant has become too large for its pot.
