Oleander, scientifically known as Nerium oleander, is a very popular shrub due to its beautiful and colorful flowers, which can be white, pink, red, salmon, or yellow. It is native to the Mediterranean regions, Southwest Asia, and China, but has adapted well to many other areas with a warm-temperate climate.

Care

• Light: Prefers strong, direct light and is ideal to be placed in a sunny spot.
• Watering: Needs regular watering during warm periods, allowing the soil to partially dry out between waterings. In winter, reduce the watering frequency.
• Soil: Prefers well-drained, fertile soils. A mix of garden soil with sand or perlite can help improve drainage.
• Temperature: Heat-tolerant and can withstand temperatures as low as -5°C for short periods. However, in areas with cold winters, it is recommended to bring it indoors or into a protected space.
• Fertilizer: Apply flowering plant fertilizer from spring to autumn to support abundant blooming.
• Pruning: Regular pruning in spring helps maintain the desired shape and stimulates flowering. Old or damaged branches can be removed, and overly long branches can be shortened to encourage new flower growth.
