Full description and specifications

Begonia Maculata is a spectacular ornamental plant, appreciated for its elongated, dark green leaves covered with distinctive silvery spots. Native to the tropical areas of Brazil, this plant is part of the Begoniaceae family and is one of the most popular species of decorative indoor begonias.

Care conditions

Light : Prefers bright indirect light, but can tolerate moderate light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves.

Watering : Keep the soil slightly moist, but avoid overwatering. It is recommended to water when the top layer of soil has dried slightly.

Humidity : It likes high humidity. Spraying the leaves with water can help, but not directly on them, to prevent spots or fungal diseases.

Soil : It needs a well-drained, aerated substrate rich in organic matter. A mixture of peat, perlite and potting soil is ideal.

Temperature : Prefers temperatures between 18-26°C and does not tolerate cold below 15°C.

Fertilization : Apply a balanced liquid fertilizer every 2-4 weeks during the growing season (spring-summer).

Additional tips

For compact and abundant growth, pinching the growth tips is recommended.

It can be easily propagated by stem cuttings, placed in water or directly in the substrate.

Avoid frequent moving, as the plant may become stressed and lose leaves.

It is susceptible to pests such as mealybugs and thrips, so inspect the leaves periodically.

Due to its unique appearance and spectacular leaves, Begonia Maculata is a perfect choice for decorating modern interiors, adding a touch of elegance and exoticism.

Some specimens may have mechanical defects/scars and/or discoloration on their leaves, but under optimal care conditions, the new leaves will develop normally.
Height with pot included 15-20 cm
