Rosmarinus officinalis 'Sabroso', commonly known as rosemary, is an evergreen Mediterranean aromatic plant valued both for its intensely fragrant leaves and its ornamental appearance. The narrow, persistent leaves release a strong aroma when touched and can be used fresh or dried in cooking.

It is suitable for pots, planters, terraces, balconies, or sunny gardens and fits very well into Mediterranean-style arrangements alongside lavender, sage, or thyme.

🌱 Secret Garden recommendation:

👉 For rosemary, we recommend a very well-drained and aerated substrate that does not retain excessive water around the roots. When growing it in a pot, it is essential that the container has effective drainage holes.

Rosemary tolerates a short period of slight dryness much better than a substrate that is kept permanently moist.

What makes it special:

  • intense, distinctive aroma
  • leaves available for harvesting almost all year round
  • can be used fresh or dried in culinary dishes
  • decorative, evergreen Mediterranean appearance
  • ideal for terraces, balconies, and herb gardens
  • tolerates sunlight and high temperatures very well
  • relatively easy to maintain when provided with good drainage
  • the flowers may attract pollinators

🌿 Culinary use:

Rosemary leaves can be used to flavor potato and vegetable dishes, bread, sauces, marinades, and numerous Mediterranean dishes. The flavor is intense, so it is usually used in moderate quantities.

📌 Note: Aromatic plants may naturally vary in shape, density, and branching depending on the season and growth stage. After pruning or harvesting, the plant will produce new growth under favorable conditions.
