Aglaonema pictum ‘Tricolor’ (bebisväxt)
144.00 kr
Aglaonema pictum ‘Tricolor’ is one of the most spectacular and sought-after varieties of Aglaonema, due to its unique leaves that resemble natural camouflage. The leaves are oval, thick, and have a distinct pattern in three shades of green: dark green, light green, and green-gray. This exotic plant originates from the tropical forests of Southeast Asia and is valued both for its ornamental appearance and its low maintenance requirements.
Care:
Light
• Prefers strong indirect light to maintain the intensity of the colors on the leaves.
• Tolerance to lower light makes it ideal for less brightly lit indoor spaces, but variegated colors may become less vibrant.
• Avoid direct sun exposure, which can burn the leaves.
Temperature
• It grows best at temperatures between 18-27°C.
• It is sensitive to cold and does not tolerate temperatures below 15°C.
• Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
Humidity
• Prefers a moderate to high humidity level.
• In dry spaces, mist the leaves periodically with water or use a humidifier.
• Avoid overwatering the leaves to prevent spots or mold.
Watering
• Keep the soil slightly moist but not soaked.
• Water the plant when the top layer of soil is dry to the touch.
• Make sure the pot has good drainage to prevent water accumulation and root rot.
Soil
• Use a well-draining soil mix, such as a potting mix for houseplants, combined with perlite or peat to improve drainage and aeration.
Fertilization
• Fertilize the plant once a month during the active growth period (spring and summer) with a balanced, liquid fertilizer for foliage plants.
• During winter, reduce fertilization as the plant enters dormancy.
Repotting
• Repot the plant every 1-2 years or when the roots fill the pot.
• Choose a new pot with drainage holes and use fresh soil.
Pruning and maintenance
• Remove dry or damaged leaves to maintain a neat appearance.
• Pruning is rarely necessary, as the plant has slow growth.
Common problems
• Yellowing leaves: Can be caused by overwatering or underwatering.
• Soft leaves: Often indicate root problems caused by stagnant water.
• Pests: It can be affected by scale insects, aphids, or red spider mites. Inspect the plant regularly and treat with a suitable insecticide if necessary.
