Care
1. Light
• Prefers strong indirect light to maintain the vivid colors of the leaves.
• It can tolerate medium light, but colors will be more intense in good light conditions.
• Avoid direct sun exposure, which can burn the leaves.
2. Temperature
• The ideal temperature is between 18-26°C.
• The plant does not tolerate cold; avoid exposure to temperatures below 15°C.
• Make sure it is protected from cold drafts.
3. Humidity
• Prefers a moderate to high humidity environment.
• In dry spaces, periodically mist the leaves with water or place the plant on a tray with pebbles and water to increase humidity around it.
4. Watering
• Keep the soil slightly moist, but not soaked. Water the plant when the top layer of soil is dry to the touch.
• Avoid stagnant water, as roots can rot.
• Use chlorine-free water or rainwater, if possible, to avoid mineral buildup.
5. Soil
• Use well-drained soil, such as a Bromeliad mix or a cactus soil mix combined with perlite.
• Drainage is essential to prevent water accumulation.
6. Fertilization
• Fertilize the plant every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a diluted liquid fertilizer for tropical plants or Bromeliads.
• Fertilizing is not necessary during winter.
7. Repotting
• Repot the plant when it becomes too crowded or when the pups grow enough to be separated.
• Use a pot with good drainage and fresh soil.
8. Pruning and maintenance
• Remove dry or damaged leaves to maintain a neat appearance.
• Pups can be separated from the mother plant when they reach one third of its size and have their own roots.
