Narcissus bulbocodium ‘Oxford Gold’ (Golden Bells) is a striking variety of miniature daffodil, also known as “crinoline daffodil” because of its unique shape. It belongs to the Bulbocodium group, valued for its very wide, trumpet-shaped crown that completely dominates the flower. It is an excellent choice for spring gardens, borders, rock gardens, and pots.

🔹 Botanical features:

Habit: A small bulbous plant, about 15–20 cm tall, ideal for low beds and edges.

Flowers: Solitary, golden yellow, with a dominant and widely open crown resembling a funnel or crinoline skirt. The actual petals are reduced, short, and pulled back, highlighting the flower’s distinctive shape. Blooms early in spring (March-April), often among the first flowers in the garden.

Leaves: Thin, grass-like, bluish-green in color, emerging at the base and providing a delicate contrast to the flowers.

🔹 Recommended growing conditions:

Light: Prefers full sun or partial shade, especially in areas with cool, moist springs.

Soil: Well-drained, light, sandy or stony, with neutral to slightly acidic pH. Does not tolerate excess moisture, especially in winter.

Planting: In autumn, at a depth of about 5–8 cm.

Watering: Moderate during the active period. After flowering, reduce watering as the foliage naturally dries out.

🔹 Uses:

Ideal for rock gardens, alpine gardens, low borders, naturalized lawns, and pots

Combines beautifully with other small spring plants such as scilla, grape hyacinths, crocus, or other dwarf daffodils

Excellent for naturalizing, returning year after year with minimal care

Narcissus bulbocodium ‘Oxford Gold’ is an unusual and charming daffodil that adds shape, texture, and a playful note to the spring garden. Easy to care for, delicate in appearance but hardy in the garden, it is an excellent choice for lovers of rare and elegant bulbous plants.

Pot diameter: 10-12 cm
