Aspidistra elatior (Pana cocosului)
Aspidistra elatior fully deserves its popular name of "Iron Plant". It is extremely hardy and has a wonderful ability to grow with minimal care. Because it can also cope with pollution, it has also received a popular name: "Bar-Room Plant".
With attractive and opulent leaves, aspidistra elatior is the only subspecies grown as a houseplant.
From spring to fall, Aspidistra can also be placed in a protected spot in the garden, on the terrace or balcony, but it must be moved indoors before the first frost.
Aspidistra elatior prefers an aerated substrate that offers average water retention. Watering should be moderate, when the substrate is almost completely dry. The quality of the soil will contribute essentially to a healthy and strong growth of the plant.
