Philodendron 'Red Anderson' (babyplant)

Philodendron 'Red Anderson' is a rare and spectacular hybrid in the Araceae family, prized for its variegated foliage and deep red stems. It is believed to be the result of a cross between Philodendron 'Pink Princess' and Philodendron 'White Knight' , combining distinctive traits of both varieties.

🔹 Botanical characteristics:

• Leaves: Large, glossy, heart-shaped, with a color palette ranging from dark green and burgundy to creamy white and pale pink. The variegation is unique to each leaf, giving a marbled or sectored appearance.

• Stems: Deep red or burgundy, contrasting beautifully with the variegated foliage.

• Growth: It has a slow growth tendency and can be grown both as a hanging plant and as a houseplant with vertical support.

🔹 Recommended care:

• Light: Prefers bright indirect light; direct sun exposure can cause leaf burns.

• Soil: Well-drained, rich in organic matter; a mixture of peat, perlite and vermiculite is ideal.

• Watering: Water moderately, allowing the top layer of soil to dry out between waterings; avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.

• Temperature: It grows optimally at temperatures between 18–27°C; sensitive to temperatures below 13°C.

• Humidity: Preference for high humidity; periodic spraying or use of a humidifier is recommended.

• Fertilization: During the active growth period (spring-summer), apply a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4 weeks.

🔹 Multiplication: It can be propagated by stem cuttings with visible nodes. The cuttings can be rooted in water or directly in moist substrate, maintaining constant humidity and a warm temperature.
