Calathea roseopicta 'Shinestar'

Calathea roseopicta ‘Shinestar’ is an impressive variety of Calathea, valued for its elegant leaves with a strong contrast between deep green and decorative pink markings. It belongs to the Marantaceae family and is an ideal plant for indoor decoration, bringing a tropical and refined atmosphere to any space.

Care conditions:

✔ Light: Prefers bright indirect light but can tolerate partial shade. Does not withstand direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves.

✔ Water: Requires regular watering, keeping the soil slightly moist but without excess water. It is recommended to use filtered or rainwater, as it is sensitive to chlorine and mineral salts.

✔ Humidity: Loves high humidity (over 60%). To prevent leaf drying, it can be placed near a humidifier or in a naturally more humid space, such as the bathroom or kitchen.

✔ Temperature: Thrives best between 18-26°C. Does not tolerate temperatures below 15°C or cold drafts.

✔ Soil: Ideally a well-drained substrate rich in organic matter, such as a mix of peat, perlite, and pine bark.

✔ Fertilizer: Feed once every 2-4 weeks during the warm season (spring-summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer for houseplants.

Common problems:

🔹 Dry or brown leaf edges – Dry air or watering with hard water. Solution: increase humidity and use filtered water.

🔹 Yellowing leaves – Overwatering or water stagnation at the roots. Solution: reduce watering and check pot drainage.

🔹 Leaves curling or folding – Lack of humidity or exposure to drafts. Solution: increase humidity and move to a sheltered place.

Calathea is sensitive to temperature changes. Therefore, you may receive these plants with some leaf imperfections, but these do not affect the plant’s viability.
