Gymnocalycium Borthii Nogolense
Gymnocalycium borthii var. nogolense is a rare and elegant variety of the Gymnocalycium genus, appreciated for its compact globular shape, olive-green color and short, curved spines . Originally from the arid regions of Argentina , this cactus has adapted to drought and intense light conditions, developing slow growth but remarkable resistance.
Being a small cactus, G. borthii var. nogolense is ideal for miniature cactus collections , terrariums or xerophytic gardens. Its flowering adds an extra appeal, as it produces delicate flowers in shades of pale pink or white, with a yellowish center , contrasting beautifully with its dark green body.
Care instructions
To maintain the health of this delicate cactus, it is essential to provide it with a well-drained environment and adequate light exposure:
🌿 Light: Preferably bright indirect light or filtered sun . Too much direct sun can lead to burns on the surface of the cactus.
🌡️ Temperature: It grows optimally between 10-30°C . It tolerates low temperatures down to 5°C , but must be protected from frost.
💧 Watering: Moderate to low! Water once every 2-3 weeks in the warm season and once every 4-6 weeks in the winter, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings.
🌱 Substrate: A well-drained mix for cacti, with sand, gravel and perlite , to avoid water stagnation.
🌿 Fertilization: Apply a special fertilizer for cacti (NPK 5-10-10) once every 2 months during the growing period (spring-summer).
🪴 Transplantation: Recommended once every 3-4 years , to provide space for the roots and renew the substrate.
