Angraecum sesquipedale - also known as Darwin's Orchid, Christmas Orchid, Star of Bethlehem Orchid or King of the angraecums. Endemic botanical species from Madagascar, with white, large flowers, famous for their fragrance, with a long lifespan.
Discovered in , this species became famous through the prediction of Charles Darwin, who claimed that if such a plant exists, there is (or will be) a pollinator capable of reaching the end of the flower's spur to produce pollination. His prediction came true about 100 years later, when the long-tongued moth, Xanthopan morganii praedicta, was discovered.
