Lithops, also known as "living stones", are a genus of unique miniature succulents, adapted to survive in the arid regions of South Africa and Namibia. These plants are masters of camouflage, having thick, fleshy leaves with a texture and color similar to stones, which allows them to blend perfectly into their natural habitat.
Lithops are highly valued for their exotic appearance and remarkable growth process, in which the old leaves dry out, nourishing the new pair that appears each year. Besides their unusual look, these succulents produce delicate, daisy-like flowers in shades of white, yellow, or orange, offering a striking contrast to their discreet leaves.
Care Instructions
🌿 Light: They need intense direct light, at least 5-6 hours of sun per day. Lack of light can cause leaf elongation and loss of their characteristic shape.
🌡️ Temperature: They tolerate temperatures between 5-35°C, but must be protected from frost (below 5°C).
💧 Watering: Very limited!
• Spring - autumn: Water only when the leaves begin to wrinkle slightly, about once every 3-4 weeks.
• Winter: Do not water at all! During this period, the plant uses water from the old leaves, which will dry out and feed the new growth.
🌱 Soil: An extremely well-drained mix, based on sand, gravel, and perlite, similar to desert soil.
🌿 Fertilizing: Once every 3-4 months, using a very diluted fertilizer for succulents (NPK 5-10-10), but only during the growing season.
🪴 Repotting: Needed every 3-5 years, as they grow slowly and do not require frequent pot changes.
Height including pot: 7-10 cm
The displayed price is for 1 plant in a pot. A variety will be chosen randomly from stock.
