Full description and specifications

Acer palmatum 'Beni Maiko' is a variety of Japanese maple valued for its colorful foliage. The name 'Beni Maiko' means 'red dancing girl' in Japanese, an allusion to the vibrant color of the leaves.

This shrub or small tree generally reaches a height and width of approximately 1.5-2.5 meters. The branches are arranged in layers, creating a structure similar to a shelf.

The leaves are small, palmate, with five or seven pointed lobes. The coloring is what really distinguishes this variety. In spring, the leaves are bright red, with an almost fluorescent appearance. As the season progresses, the leaves turn reddish-green, before turning spectacular bright red colors in the fall.

Acer palmatum 'Beni Maiko' prefers a place protected from the scorching midday sun and a well-drained, acid or neutral soil. It is resistant to low temperatures and can withstand up to -20 degrees Celsius.
