Care Marginatocereus marginatus f. crystal

Light :

  • Prefers bright but indirect light.
  • It can tolerate direct sun in the morning or evening, but prolonged exposure to intense sun can cause burns.

Ground :

  • It needs a well-drained substrate, specific for cacti and succulents.
  • A mixture of universal soil with coarse sand or perlite is ideal.

Watering :

  • Water the plant only when the soil is completely dry, about once every 2-3 weeks in the warm season.
  • In winter, watering should be significantly reduced, almost stopped, to prevent rot.

Temperature :

  • It develops optimally at temperatures between 20°C and 30°C.
  • Does not tolerate frost; ensures a minimum temperature of 10°C.

Humidity :

  • It prefers a dry environment, adapted to arid conditions.
  • Avoid high humidity, which can favor the development of fungi or mold.

Fertilization :

  • Fertilize the plant once a month during the growing season (spring and summer) using a weak fertilizer for cacti and succulents.
  • Do not fertilize in the cold season.

Replanting :

  • Replant every 2-3 years or when the plant outgrows the pot.
  • Use a pot with good drainage and replace the used substrate with fresh one.

Propagation :

  • Propagation is difficult and is usually done by grafting onto a healthy rootstock. This method ensures a correct development of the notched shape.
