Hoya macrophylla 'Pot of Gold' (Variegata) is an inner-variegated cultivar: the yellow or cream area runs through the middle of the leaf blade, while the edge remains green. The foliage is broad and thick, with prominent veins. It is not the Albomarginata form, which has a light-colored border. It is also circulated as Hoya latifolia 'Pot of Gold'. It has a vining growth habit. Under good growing conditions, it produces star-shaped, cream or pale pink umbels, horticulturally described as fragrant. Flowering depends on the plant's maturity and growing conditions.

Foliage and variegation. The leaves are broad and thick, with raised veins. The variegation is internal: yellow, cream, or pale green tissue follows the midrib, while the border remains green. The intensity and width of the light-colored area vary from leaf to leaf. New shoots may temporarily have a pink tinge. This is not splash variegation and is not the marginal variegation sold as Albomarginata.

Flowers and fragrance. The flowers are small and star-shaped, grouped in umbels. The color described for the latifolia-type plant ranges from cream and pale yellow to pink. They are horticulturally described as fragrant. The shade and intensity may vary. Flowering depends on the plant's maturity and growing conditions.

Identity. The commercial name is retained.
