Gymnocalycium saglionis
Gymnocalycium saglionis is a species of cactus native to Argentina. It is a large cactus, with a globular shape, which can reach up to 60 cm in diameter and 40 cm in height.
On the green surface of the body, tubers are regularly arranged, from where strong thorns grow. The spines are brown or black, long and straight, with 3-4 central spines and 7-9 radial spines per areola.
Its flowers, white or pink, appear at the top of the plant and can reach 5 cm in diameter. These are followed by round, green fruits.
Gymnocalycium saglionis is an easy-to-maintain cactus, preferring partial sun exposure or filtered light and a well-drained soil. It is drought tolerant but, like most cacti, is sensitive to excess water. It is a popular choice for cactus collectors due to its impressive size and attractive flowers.
