Aspidistra elatior fully deserves the popular name "Iron Plant". It is extremely resilient and has a wonderful ability to thrive with very little care. The fact that it also copes with pollution earned it another name, "Bar-Room Plant".

With attractive and lush leaves, Aspidistra elatior is the only subspecies grown as an indoor plant. 

From spring to autumn, Aspidistra can also be placed in a protected spot in the garden, on the terrace or balcony, but it must be moved indoors before the first frost.

Aspidistra elatior prefers an airy substrate that offers medium water retention. Watering should be moderate, when the substrate is almost completely dry. The quality of the soil will essentially contribute to healthy and strong plant growth.
