Alocasia wentii 'Aurea'

Alocasia wentii 'Aurea' is a particularly attractive and relatively easy-to-grow variegated variety from the Alocasia genus. It stands out through its large, arrowhead- or heart-shaped leaves, featuring a spectacular golden-yellow variegation pattern against a dark green background. The contrast between the deep green and golden areas creates a bright, exotic effect, making it one of the most highly prized variegated forms of Alocasia.

Unlike many other variegated Alocasias, 'Aurea' is considered more robust and forgiving, with relatively fast growth for a plant from this genus.

Main characteristics:

• Large arrowhead/heart-shaped leaves with intense golden-yellow variegation
• Bright and highly decorative appearance
• More vigorous growth than most variegated Alocasias
• Exotic and modern appearance

Care:

• Light: bright indirect light or bright partial shade. Variegation needs good light to remain beautiful and to prevent the plant from becoming leggy.
• Temperature: warm. Optimal 20–28°C. It does not tolerate temperatures below 15°C for extended periods.
• Watering: moderate to abundant during the growing season. Allow the substrate to partially dry out between waterings.
• Humidity: medium to high (it benefits from increased humidity).
• Substrate: rich, airy, and well-draining.

Substrate recommendation: For optimal development and to prevent root rot, we recommend Professional Substrate for Monstera & Araceae from Secret Garden. → Professional Substrate for Monstera & Araceae - Secret Garden

This substrate provides excellent drainage and an airy structure, making it ideal for Alocasias and other plants from the Araceae family.

Uses: Alocasia wentii 'Aurea' is a collector's ornamental plant, perfect for indoor spaces. Thanks to its large leaves and spectacular golden variegation, it creates a strong focal point in living rooms, offices, or bright spaces. It is also suitable for protected terraces and balconies during the warm season.

An excellent choice if you want an Alocasia with a bright, exotic appearance that is relatively resilient compared with other variegated varieties.

📌 Note: Alocasia is a sensitive plant. Therefore, you may receive these plants with some leaf defects; however, these do not affect the plant's viability. Older leaves may show minor imperfections, tears, discoloration, or marks that occurred during cultivation and transport. These aspects are normal and do not affect the plant's subsequent development.
When moved or when conditions change, it may lose 1-2 older leaves - this is a normal phenomenon.
