Aeschynanthus 'Nin' , also known as the lipstick plant, is a tropical houseplant native to Southeast Asia, prized for its glossy green foliage and spectacular, tubular flowers in intense shades of red with orange accents. It is an excellent choice for hanging pots or bright corners, being relatively easy to care for.

Aeschynanthus 'Nin' care:

Light: The plant prefers bright indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, especially during midday hours, as the leaves may burn. In a too shady area, flowering may be reduced.

Watering: Water the plant when the top layer of soil is dry to the touch. Make sure that excess water drains completely and that the plant's roots are not left standing in water.

Temperature: Aeschynanthus 'Nin' prefers average temperatures. Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature changes, which can affect growth and flowering.

Humidity: Being a tropical plant, it loves high ambient humidity. Lightly mist the leaves especially in the cold and dry months or place the pot on a tray with pebbles and water, without the bottom of the pot touching the water.

Soil: Use a well-drained, aerated potting mix – ideally a mix for orchids, aroids or African violets. This will prevent excessive moisture build-up and promote root health.

Fertilization: During the growing season (spring and summer), apply a balanced liquid fertilizer once a month. Reduce the frequency of fertilization to once every 6–8 weeks during the cold season.

Cutting: Remove the growth tips to encourage branching and a more compact appearance. Remove dry or damaged leaves to maintain the health and aesthetics of the plant.

Repotting: Repot the plant every 2–3 years or when the roots completely fill the pot. Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the previous one.

Aeschynanthus 'Nin' is an ideal plant for lovers of exotic and colorful plants. With minimal care, it rewards with elegant foliage and spectacular flowers that bring life to any corner of the house.

It is sold as a plant without flowers.
