Thrixspermum centipeda is an epiphytic or lithophytic species in the genus Thrixspermum (family Orchidaceae), described by Loureiro in 1790. It is distributed from Assam and the Eastern Himalayas to southern China, Indochina, the Philippines, and Malesia.

Botanical characteristics:

  • Flowers: Approximately 2.5 cm. White or creamy yellow, becoming yellow. They do not open widely. Subtle fragrance. Last 2-3 days. They appear successively several times a year, usually in spring, on pendent flower spikes with persistent bracts arranged in two rows.
  • Habit: Small to medium-sized plant, with erect or pendent stems that root along their length, and fleshy, elliptic leaves, unevenly bilobed at the tip. Hot-to-cool growing conditions.
  • Special features: A vandaceous species with ephemeral flowering, typical of the genus. The spike remains and produces flowers again. It can be grown mounted or in an airy substrate.

Recommended substrate: Vandaceous Substrate

Note: Some specimens from this lot have spots or coloration on the leaves. These are aesthetic, characteristic of the variety, and do not affect the plant's viability.
