Schlumbergera ‘Thor Ida’ (Craciunita roz)

Schlumbergera, also known by the common names Christmas Cactus, Do Not Disturb, or Holiday Cactus, is a succulent epiphytic plant native to the mountainous regions of Brazil. It is highly valued for its spectacular flowers, which naturally bloom during the winter holiday season, bringing color and a festive atmosphere to any interior.

🌿 Care Conditions

Light

It prefers indirect light and adapts well to dimmer areas. Avoid direct exposure to strong sunlight, which can cause leaf burns.

Watering

During the growth and flowering period, the soil should be kept lightly moist, without excess water. After flowering and during rest periods, watering is reduced. A well-drained substrate is essential to prevent root rot.

Humidity

It prefers moderate humidity. In dry air spaces, occasional misting can be beneficial.

Temperature

It grows best at temperatures between 15–22°C. To encourage flowering, the plant can be temporarily exposed to cooler temperatures, but not below 10°C, a few weeks before the desired blooming period.

Fertilizing

During the growth period, a balanced liquid fertilizer can be applied, diluted according to instructions. Fertilizing is stopped during the rest period.

Repotting

Repotting is preferably done after flowering and is only necessary when the plant has outgrown its current pot.

Note: The plant is usually sold without flowers, as they may fall off or wilt before shipping. Schlumbergera has the ability to bloom again, and as the flowers mature, their colors become increasingly vivid.
