Dendrobium formosum is an epiphytic species in the genus Dendrobium (Orchidaceae family), native to northeastern India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Andaman Islands.

Botanical characteristics:

  • Flowers: 6-11 cm in diameter. White, with a yellow spot on the lip. 1-4 flowers on the upper nodes of mature canes. Intense fragrance. Lasts approximately 5 weeks.
  • Habit: Cylindrical, upright canes, 20-45 cm long, with leathery leaves on the upper third. Intermediate to warm growth, with a cooler period in winter.
  • Special features: A classic species from the Formosae section, appreciated for its large, white, fragrant flowers. Requires bright light and a drier period after the growths mature.

Recommended substrate: Substrate for Cambria, Oncidium, Brassia
