Full description and specifications
Platycerium Bifurcatum, popularly called Stag Horn fern, is an epiphytic fern, with leaves similar to the horns of a deer, hence the name of the plant.
It has two types of leaves: sterile, flattened ones, which attach to the substrate and help absorb water, and fertile others, which are divided and resemble the horns of a deer. Here are some tips for caring for this unique plant:
Light: Prefer indirect, but bright light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves.
Watering : The fern needs a moist environment. Make sure that the substrate dries easily between waterings. Avoid spraying directly on fertile leaves to prevent mold development.
Humidity: Prefers high humidity. You can keep the humidity level high by spraying with water or using a humidifier.
Substrate : Considering that it is an epiphytic plant, Platycerium bifurcatum grows best in an airy substrate mixture, rich in organic matter. Orchid or fern mixes are often suitable.
Fertilization: Use a diluted fertilizer, rich in nitrogen, every few weeks during the period of active growth (spring and summer).
Temperature: Prefers moderate temperatures, between 16-24 degrees Celsius. Avoid exposure to cold air currents or temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius.
