Paeonia Itoh, or Itoh hybrids, are a special group of intergeneric peonies resulting from the crossing of Paeonia lactiflora, a herbaceous peony species, and Paeonia suffruticosa, a shrub peony species. These hybrids are named after the Japanese horticulturist Toichi Itoh, who achieved the first successful cross of this kind in the 1940s.

The Itoh hybrids combine the best traits of both parent species. They inherit the lush foliage, compact habit, and large, full flowers from the herbaceous peonies, and the disease resistance, longevity, and wide range of colors from the shrub peonies. The flowers can be of various colors, including yellow, pink, red, orange, and shades of cream, sometimes with multiple colors in the same flower.

Itoh hybrids are valued because they have an exceptionally long blooming period that can last from late spring until autumn and can produce several flowers on a single stem compared to their parent types. The stems are sturdy and can support the large flowers without bending. After blooming, the plants maintain an attractive appearance due to their green and healthy foliage, which remains decorative until winter arrives.
