Cattlianthe Mary Elizabeth Bohn 'Royal Flare' AM/AOS
Cattlianthe Mary Elizabeth Bohn 'Royal Flare' AM/AOS is a classic hybrid from the nothogenus Cattlianthe (family Orchidaceae), created in 1966 by Ilsley (Ctt. Blue Boy × Gur. bowringiana). The 'Royal Flare' clone received the AM/AOS award in 1986.
Botanical characteristics:
- Flowers: Medium-large, light purple / coerulea color (blue-lavender tones), with a more intense dark purple lip. Inflorescences with about 11 flowers. Pleasant, strong fragrance. Elegant and "flared" shape.
- Habitus: Robust pseudobulbs, vigorous medium-sized plant. Epiphytic growth with excellent flowering potential.
- Particularities: Dominant influence (62.5%) from Guarianthe bowringiana – responsible for the distinctive coerulea color. A historic hybrid valued for its fragrance and rare color.
The 'Royal Flare' clone remains a reference in the coerulea line. Flower color may vary depending on growing conditions, fertilization, and season.
