Alocasia ‘Chantrieri’ is a striking variety, obtained by crossing Alocasia cuprea and Alocasia sanderiana. It is valued for its large, very dark leaves, with well-defined pale greenish-white veins. The strong contrast between the glossy leaf surface and the light veins creates an elegant and dramatic effect.

The leaf surface has a metallic sheen, with a whitish central vein and primary side veins, ovate-heart shaped with a somewhat deeply wavy-undulated edge; the rear lobes are about half the size of the front ones, joined beyond the midpoint, separated by a narrow sharp notch in the remaining section.

It is a tropical plant with a strong presence, suitable for modern interiors or spaces where a sophisticated green accent is desired.

Practical notes

Alocasia is sensitive to overwatering and low temperatures. A very well-drained soil is recommended and standing water should be avoided. During adjustment periods, it may occasionally lose a leaf without this affecting long-term growth.

🌱 Secret Garden recommendation:

👉 For healthy roots and spectacular foliage, use Secret Garden professional soil for Monstera & tropical plants — a balanced mix of peat, pine bark, perlite, and coconut fiber, specially designed for tropical plants sensitive to excess water.

Note: Alocasia is a sensitive plant, and the leaves may show small imperfections caused by handling or transport. These aspects are normal and do not affect the plant’s health or growth.
