Alocasia boa A.Hay is a spectacular tropical botanical species native to western New Guinea, prized for its large, elongated, deeply lobed leaves, which have a sculptural and highly exotic appearance. Unlike many Alocasia species with broad, compact leaves, this species develops narrower, strongly divided foliage, giving it an elegant and architectural form.

The plant belongs to the Araceae family and, like many other Alocasia species, is commonly known as Elephant Ear. In mature specimens, the leaves become increasingly well defined, and the lobing may become more pronounced.

✨ What makes it special

  • it is a botanical species, not a cultivar;

  • spectacularly lobed and deeply divided leaves;

  • highly exotic and architectural appearance;

  • upright and elegant form;

  • the leaves become more impressive as the plant matures;

  • suitable for collections of Alocasia and rare tropical plants;

  • the leaf shape is distinct from that of many other species in the genus.

📌 Note

The shape, size and degree of leaf lobing may naturally vary depending on the plant’s age and stage of development. Young specimens may have less divided leaves than mature plants.

Alocasia is sensitive to changes in environmental conditions and may lose one or more leaves during the adjustment period. The leaves may show small spots, scratches, bends, tears, dry edges or other aesthetic imperfections resulting from growth, handling, transportation or adjustment to new environmental conditions. These aspects do not normally affect the plant’s viability.
