Acer palmatum 'Katsura' is a variety of Japanese maple recognized for its colorful foliage throughout the year. This shrub or small tree has a graceful, round shape, reaching a height and width of approximately 2-3 meters.

The leaves are palmate, with five pointed lobes, quite small compared to other varieties of Japanese maple. In spring, the leaves are a bright orange with a hint of yellow, providing a nice contrast to the red buds.
