Vanda belongs to the orchid family (Orchidaceae) which, although not large (about 50 species), is highly valued in gardening for its brightly colored, long-lasting, and vividly hued flowers. Vanda is widely spread in East Asia, Southeast Asia, and New Guinea, with some species extending into Queensland and some of the islands of the Western Pacific.
