Sansevieria cylindrica 'Straight' is an ornamental succulent appreciated for its long, cylindrical, rigid leaves, which grow almost vertically and create a very modern architectural appearance. It is one of the easiest Sansevieria varieties to integrate into contemporary interiors, thanks to its narrow and elegant silhouette.

The horticultural name Sansevieria cylindrica is still widely used commercially, but the currently accepted botanical name is Dracaena angolensis.

☀️ Growing conditions and care

• Light: adapts to a wide range of conditions, from bright indirect light to partial shade. Growth is better in a bright location, but the plant also tolerates lower light levels.

• Growing medium: very well-drained and airy, suitable for succulents.

• Watering: limited. The growing medium should be allowed to dry out thoroughly between waterings. Excess water and keeping the roots constantly in wet soil are among the main risks to the plant.

• Humidity: prefers average or low indoor humidity and does not require misting.

• Temperature: grows well under normal household conditions; the RHS indicates approximately 15-24°C as a favorable range and recommends keeping Sansevieria plants above 10°C.

• Fertilization: moderate during the active growing period.

• Repotting: does not require frequent repotting and can be moved to a larger container when the pot becomes well filled with rhizomes and roots.

• Cold tolerance: does not tolerate frost; in Romania, it is grown as an indoor plant.

📌 Note

The shape, number, length and inclination of the leaves may naturally vary from one specimen to another. The name 'Straight' describes the predominantly upright growth habit of the leaves, but they are not necessarily perfectly straight or identical to one another.

The cylindrical leaves are rigid, and the tips represent their natural growing points. If the tip of a leaf is broken or damaged, that leaf will not regrow its original tip, but the plant can continue to develop normally and produce new leaves.

As a result of growth, handling, transport or adaptation to new environmental conditions, the leaves may have dry or broken tips, scratches, small scars, spots or bends. These aesthetic imperfections do not normally affect the plant's health, viability or development.
