Full description and specifications

Opuntia inamoena is a species of cactus native to Mexico, part of the Cactaceae family. The cactus can reach considerable size and produce yellow or red flowers, which are followed by edible fruits.

Care:

  1. Light: Opuntia inamoena prefers strong and direct light, ideally being exposed to direct sunlight for at least a few hours a day. Indoors, placing next to a south-facing window is ideal.

  2. Watering: This cactus requires moderate watering, letting the soil dry completely between waterings. During the winter, watering must be significantly reduced to simulate vegetative rest conditions.

  3. Temperature and humidity: Opuntia inamoena tolerates high temperatures and is resistant to drought. It does not need high humidity and tolerates low temperatures up to the freezing point, but it is better to be protected from extreme cold.

  4. Soil: Prefers a well-drained soil, ideal being a mixture for cacti.

  5. Transplantation: Transplantation is rarely done, only when the cactus has exceeded the available space in the pot.

  6. Fertilizer: Fertilization is not necessary frequently. A diluted fertilizer for cacti can be applied during the period of active growth, once a month.
